LISA Crash test facility
Prime contractor Centro Italiano Ricerche Aerospaziali
The CIRA crash test facility was conceived by Prof. Vittorio Giavotto of Politecnico di Milano. Ferrari Space Division was the prime contractor in charge for the engineering phase of the project, and for the manufacturing and testing activities The work has been performed for CIRA (Italian Research Aerospace Center). DTM, on behalf of Ferrari, was partly responsible for engineering / testing activities of this very complex facility. In 2002 DTM (within an ATI with Ferrari SpA as team leader) was responsible for high level engineering maintenance activities.

The Crash Test Laboratory is designed to carry out high-energy impact testing of aeronautical structures both on ground and water surfaces. The specific characteristics of the facility will ensure a guided trajectory for the test article, something which current systems have not been able to do.
